Métamorphose #2 : closure of the tropical and polar pavilions

Over 2024-2025, Océanopolis continues its Metamorphosis: a major renovation project to offer you a more modern, immersive and sensory visiting experience.

A large-scale renovation project

The opening of the City of Oceanauts last July, the construction of the reception building and gift shop, and the creation of the botanical gardens have allowed Océanopolis to enter a new phase of visitor renewal.

The second and final phase of the program involves the complete renovation of the Tropical Pavilion and the transformation of the Polar Pavilion into the Southern Pavilion. These two pavilions, built in 2000, are therefore currently closed.

The “Healer for a Day” and “Behind the Scenes” activities that took place in these pavilions are temporarily suspended.

Originally scheduled for the second quarter of 2026, the opening of the Tropical Pavilion is now announced for summer 2026 and that of the Southern Pavilion for autumn 2026.

Given the scale of the renovations, the technical specifications, and the unprecedented nature of this type of project, additional time is needed to allow the companies working daily at Océanopolis to finalize their work. Therefore, the opening of the Tropical Pavilion, initially planned for the second quarter of 2026, is now announced for summer 2026 and that of the Southern Pavilion for autumn 2026.

Indeed, at the Tropical Pavilion, the replacement of the glazing proved more extensive than anticipated in order to carry out essential waterproofing repairs. For the Southern Pavilion, the dome required restoration.

This is an exceptional project, more complex than we imagined, and much more technical as well.” The idea isn’t to rush things and open at any cost, but to do things properly.
